A Bruised Reed
From Isaiah 42 – 53 we have some of the greatest prophecies about the character and purpose of Jesus Christ that can be found in the Old Testament. We can then go to the New Testament to see those prophecies fulfilled (Matthew 12:17-21). Isaiah 42:3 says of Him, “A bruised reed He will not break and a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish.”

Growing Up In Darkness
In Maputo, Mozambique, many unfortunate children call the streets their home. Having been abandoned by their families, they are forced to grow up, seek shelter, and hide in the dark, wet, and perilous parts of the city.

Busy Doesn’t Equate Holy
We have found ourselves frequently glamorizing workaholics, the busyness of life, and the priority of filling time. For fear of being portrayed as lazy, Western minds seek to find ways to be consumed in actions with little time to simply be.

Holy, Not Happy
One of the ever-present notions concerning God’s relationship with mankind is the one which maintains that our Creator’s great desire is for His creation, to be happy in life. The Heavens Declare The Glory Of God
As David kept his father’s sheep, he probably had a lot of time to look at the night sky. He wrote, “The heavens declare the glory of God” Psalm 19:1. Note some interesting facts that modern technology reveals to us about the heavens.

Neglecting The Mirror
A gray-haired old lady was a longtime member of her community and church. After services one Sunday morning, she shook hands with the minister. “That was a wonderful sermon,” she told him, "Just wonderful. Everything you said applies to someone I know”

My Rock, My Salvation, My Stronghold
My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken (Psalm 62:1, 2). Sometimes it’s hard to wait in silence, isn’t it? When the charging bull gets closer and closer, it’s hard to stay still.

It’s Never Too Late
Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, exercising, early mornings, drama tv shows, stocks, reading, and school. Someone might look at that list and ask if I’m crafting an inventory of nightmares but to much of my chagrin, I am not. Those are all things that I once hated, loathed even, as a child.

On Living In An Atomic Age
In one way we think a great deal too much of the atomic bomb. ‘How are we to live in an atomic age?’ I am tempted to reply: ‘Why, as you would have lived in the sixteenth century when the plague visited London almost every year, or as you would have lived in a Viking age when raiders from Scandinavia might land and cut your throat at night;
