Thinking Souls…

and doing something about it

The Lord left the disciples, and ultimately the church, with a mission - "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation" (Mark 16:15). At Bear Valley, we take that mission to heart. Thinking souls is not a program or a campaign. It is a way of living. It is a way of looking at the world around us. We need to see people, all people, as souls destined for eternity. It is with that type of vision that we are involved in mission work all over the world.

Our preaching school, the Bear Valley Bible Institute has schools all over the globe. From our main campus here in Denver, we work to train men and women to serve in the Lord's kingdom wherever they may go. In addition, we train men in their native countries. For more information about this work, visit the school's website here.

We also support missionaries both in the U.S. and in the foreign field as well. These families labor to teach and preach in order to bring souls to Christ and strengthen the church. Each work has its own unique issues and needs and we invite you to look at each one listed and to pray for the success of their work THINKING SOULS!

Less than one year after we started in 1964, we began the ministry of training men and women for full-time service in the Lord's Kingdom. The Bear Valley Bible Institute International has trained and graduated hundreds of workers who now service all around the world.

In the last 10 years, this work has now been expanded into a global preacher training effort with 45 schools in 25 foreign countries.

Arizona

Josh and Divine Austin have been married since 2000.  They have four children: Aaliyah (17); Alyssa (15); Alayna (13); Josiah (11).  They started the Salt River church out of their home in 2013.  The congregation has now grown to have a great mix of various tribes and ethnic groups.  Several ministries are directed toward the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, including a prison and rehabilitation facility.  Two of the first converts, Evan and Crystal Todachine, have gone on to attend Bear Valley Bible Institute and are now partnering with Josh and Divine.

Josh and Divine graduated from Bear Valley Bible Institute in 2002 and then moved to the Navajo reservation, which is where Josh grew up.  They helped to restore the church in Kayenta that Josh’s parents started in 1973.  After nine years, the family moved back to Denver to work with Bear Valley’s extension school program.  Josh worked as a coordinator and teacher for the school in Cameroon, Africa for two years.

Ukraine

Andrew Zhuravlev, a graduate from the very first Bear Valley Bible Institute extension (at the time it met in Kramatorsk), has been the preacher for the church in Gorlovka and supported by our congregation since 2010.  Due to the ongoing unrest and conflict with Russian insurgents, during which the Gorlovka building was seized in the Spring of 2014, the school had to relocate to western Ukraine near Lviv in the town of Ternopil. This summer and fall, Andrew has been ministering to the Christians in Gorlovka by trying to help them find housing and relocate to the Kiev area.  This is obviously a time of upheaval and adjustment for our Christian family there.
